As we gather for our last service of 2024, our Shabbat evening service will focus on Chanukah. I hope you will join me to sing some our familiar melodies, and I would ask that all of you have with you, a Menorah that we can all see. I will talk about the history of a well-known Chanukah song and its crazy connection to one the greatest guitarist in the history of popular music. Then, I would like to ask anyone online if they can share a brief memory of something special connected with the celebration of Chanukah. This might be something that happened when you were young, or an odd place you were during Chanukah, or maybe the significance of the Menorah in your home. While we won’t be lighting any candles, since the first night is not till December 25, I hope our service will get us ready for Chanukah.
